Arizona’s Casino Del Sol recently launched a play-for-fun free online casino on their website. The free game software called DoubleDown Casino is provided through a partnership with slot machine manufacturer IGT. The deal was the first that IGT has struck with land-based casinos, as the company looks to move into the online gambling space. Among the games included are slots, video poker, blackjack, roulette, and poker.
The Arizona Daily Star newspaper published an article about the launch, quoting a University of Arizona professor expressing concerns that the game could be a potential problem for addicted gamblers. Although the site gives users free chips each day, it also offers the opportunity to buy more chips for real cash. No winnings are ever cashable, so the site is strictly for entertainment.
I recently published a complete review of the games available at the casino, where the site garnered only 3 stars out of a potential 10. If you would like to try the free games for yourself, you can click here.
I would love to see your feedback on my Review of Double Down Casino as well.
While several other states are moving quickly toward allowing online gambling, Arizona has so far been quiet in that respect. Still, with this partnership in place, one has to wonder whether Casino Del Sol will be pushing behind the scenes for legal changes that would allow them to expand into real-money play online.
